Lightwater United FC: Making Lost Club Equipment Easier to Return

At grassroots level, it is often the small things that keep football moving.

Goal keys. Bib bags. Equipment bags. Training kit.

For a volunteer-led club like Lightwater United FC, replacing lost equipment costs money and tracking it down takes time.

The challenge

Club equipment moves constantly between coaches, training sessions, matches and locations.

When something gets left behind, getting it back can often depend on somebody recognising it or knowing who to contact.

Lightwater United wanted a simple way to improve the chances of equipment being returned without adding more administration for volunteers.

How TagLink was used

As part of a pilot, TagLinks were added to selected items including goal keys, bib bags and equipment bags.

The tags included club branding, clear identification, a secure QR code and a steel cable loop for attaching them to equipment.

No app is required and personal contact details do not need to be displayed on the item.
